Nearing the end of "Sony's" press conference "Batman Arkham Knight" made it's game play debut with a jaw dropping demonstration of some of the new features in the game. The demo starts out with our hero suiting up and receiving an address to "The Penguins" whereabouts. "Batman" walks out onto the balcony of his headquarters and looks over the city, and in that moment you get a real sense of just how large and insanely detailed "Gotham" really is. After a few seconds of awe, "Batman" nose dives off the building and begins gliding throughout "Gotham". The verticality has been cranked up to eleven compared to past "Arkham" games, with multiple buildings as tall and taller then the "Wonder Tower" from "Arkham City". After showing off the city for a few moments "Batman" nose dives once again straight to the streets of "Gotham", when he lands the "Batmobile" drifts around the corner, fish tails towards batman and he springs into the air landing in the driver seat and takes off down the street. What's immediately striking about this is the fluidity in game play, from walking on the balcony to gliding across the city and then jumping right into the "Batmobile", it's all smooth, seamless and fits very well together. The demonstration moves on to vehicle combat which has the "Batmobile" switching to battle mode equipping weapons appropriate to the situation, such as lethal weapons for unmanned drones, as shown in the demonstration and non lethal weapons for people. After the inevitable destruction of the drones "Batman" speeds off towards the "Gotham" docks, but once at top speed he is ejected out of the driver seat and into the "Gotham" skyline. "Batman" glides towards a building, landing on a hand rail to the building "The Penguin" is located. "Batman" scouts out three goons and initiates a fear take down which allowed him to take out all three thugs without them even knowing what hit them. "Batman" proceeds to his objective and once again the fluidity is put on display, you no longer transition into first person to traverse the vents, the camera stays in third person and "Batman" slides down the vents at what seems to be as fast of an animation it can be without you losing track as to what's happening on screen. In classic Arkham fashion "Batman" is below the criminals including "The Penguin". Batman springs out from the floor and begins interrogating "CobbelPot". It is hard to make out what kind of information "Batman" was trying to get out of "The Penguin" because "The Scarecrow" interrupts the demonstration distorting the picture and giving the audience a very menacing monologue, a threat to "Batman" and "Gotham". "The Caped Crusader" is back and looking better than ever, "Rocksteady" (creators) have went on record saying that this is the conclusion to their trilogy ("Batman Arkham Origins" was not developed by "Rocksteady") so expect them to go out with a bang. Let us know what you guys think of "Batman Arkham Knight" in the comments.
